A Call for Help

I’m sure you have all heard about the South Asia earthquake and tsunamis. I’m not going to say anything about it since no word could do it justice. The least I can do is ask you to make a donation towards the relief funds if you have some money to spare. You can do it online through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (donate), Oxfam (donate), or Save the Children (donate) (more aid groups accepting donations for victims). Please. To say that they need your help badly is an understatement.
In case you’re wondering, my family is fine. They live on Java island, next to the badly affected Sumatra. There have been reports of unusually high tidal waves in the south coast of Java but thankfully no tsunami. That’s all I can say about it.

  1. Long time reader who never replies ~ that’s me. I was going to reply earlier to let you know how much I love your new design. In comparison with your previous designs, it’s very cheery. It seems that you are happy, and I am glad to see that.
On another note, what happened in Asia is heartwrenchingly shocking. Glad to hear that your family is safe, but it is so sad to think of those who lost loved ones. The death toll seems to rise by 25,000 every single time I check the news. :`(

  2. Hi Firda,
I was waiting to read from you something about that tragedy, and I´m really glad your family is fine.
Your blog´s new design is great, sorry for the lack of a better word. I just loved it.

  3. I’m glad to hear that your family is OK. I didn’t think they were in the affected area, but it’s better to hear it from you.
If everyone were to donate just a little bit, it would add up to an awful lot.

  4. Glad to hear everything is okay with your family. I’m donating the revenues I get from advertising on my site to the British Red Cross, along with some of my own money. It won’t be much – probably no more than £40 – but if everyone gave some money I’m sure we could really make a difference to those who have survived such a terrible tragedy.
