Yesterday I came across this compilation of songs from alt. rock bands of the 90s called When We Were Young at I Guess I’m Floating (an MP3 blog). It is an interesting compilation of songs that you can download if you’re interested. I’m listening to it as I type. There are some bands that I think should be on the list but are not, but hey, it’s their list, not mine. If it were my list, I would add the following bands into the compilation:
1. Nirvana — “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
2. Live — “Lightning Crashes”
3. The Verve Pipe — “The Freshmen”
4. Deep Blue Something — “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers — “Under the Bridge”
6. 4 Non Blondes — “What’s Up”
7. The Cranberries — “Zombie”
8. Garbage — “Stupid Girl”
9. No Doubt — “Don’t Speak”
10. Blur — “Song 2”
11. EMF — “Unbelievable”
12. Goo Goo Dolls — “Iris”
Um, I think that’s all. I’m not sure if all the bands I listed above are alt. rock bands, but those are the songs that come to me when I think of the 90s.

And I totally agree with your list, I immediately knew each of those songs whereas with the other list I had to really think about it or do alyrics search to recall the song.
