My name is Firda and I am an Indonesian walking disaster. Home is Waterloo, Ontario, Canada where I live with my beloved husband Troy. I take pictures and design websites for fun. I blog for my sanity. More?
Started on February 20, 2000, Weblog Wannabe has since won several Bloggies™. It contains links to sites that I think are silly and/or interesting with the occasional ramblings thrown in for good measure.
Blogroll me or subscribe to my feed.
This weblog is powered by Movable Type. The entries are mostly the results of tireless web browsing with my best buddy, Mozilla Firefox. Site design is copyrighted by Firda Beka. That's me, not you.
Apparently, not everyone hates spam. Well, of course not. Otherwise, there would be no spammers, right? SPAM and the world will spam with you is a one man's attempt to defend spam and himself. Er, I mean spam and spammers. I think he'd be happy if you spam him. ♥
Help provide free night-time shelter for homeless computer mice by building your own Original Mouse House. It's nothing fancy. Just some paper house. But homeless computer mice around the world will love you forever for it. While you're there, be sure to check out the MouseCafe's Fun Stuff. It's really fun! At least for your mouse. ♥
Do you have anything you want destroyed? You know, things like your boss, or Britney Spears, or some unwanted gifts, or maybe Pokemon? Must Be Destroyed will do it for you, in Flash, so you don't have to. ♥
Everyone claims "My Country is Better Than Yours" but which country between Australia, Canada, France, Japan, England and United States is actually the best? You'll be surprised to learn the answer. Well, their answer anyway. Of course my country is better than yours :P ♥
I was just wondering, what colour is your Weblog Wannabe? Mine is changing all the time, but it's yellow most of the time. I love yellow. Is there any other colour you'd like me to add to the colour scheme options? Just let me know, 'kay? ♥
Read Firda's Tribute to Herself.
Was your first website as well-designed as this? Because mine wasn't. ♥
Just for your information, I'm taking Friday off, and Monday is a holiday, so it's going to be a 4-day weekend for me. Yay me! I'm going to try to come up with a better design for this site during the weekend.
Oh, and one more thing: I love my weblog :) The number of its readers might have dropped drastically from 300-something to, oh, 30-something or even less (I don't know for sure, I've no site stats here) after I moved it to this domain. But I love it anyway, because my friends read it. That's what really matters after all. ♥
Thanks to Emlyn, who hasn't started reciting Shakespeare yet this morning (that's a good thing, by the way), I've got a new voicemail number now from Excite. Yay!
My voicemail number is 1-888-Excite2 ext. 800-630-0000.
If you're somewhere in the U.S., why don't you call me now and quack? It's free! Plus, you'd feel good about yourself for making a wannabe's day a little bit better. That's one good reason to call, don't you think? ;) ♥
Thursday Morning Haiku:
DNS changes
Propogating the system
Impatient admin.
My first attempt (well, first public attempt) at a haiku. My server is being shipped to me. ♥
Bat Boy and I go way back. Whenever my dad would spot him on the cover of the Weekly World News (a fantastic publication, fictional as it may be), he'd bring home a copy and give it to my sister. Years later, he got her a bat boy T-shirt. So I guess Bat Boy and my sister go way back. But I was around .. imagine my excitement today when I found that Bat Boy: The Musical is playing in New York. Of course, I won't be in New York any time soon, but it's exciting no less .. if you're in New York, check it out. Bat Boy is a legacy not to be trifled with. ♥
At BillGatesisDead.com (via Jish), part of the media quasi-hoax related to the upcoming Haxan Films (the Blair Witch people) movie MacArthur Park (a mockumentary about Bill Gates' death), is giving away free webmail addresses. (Damn, that was one hell of a compound sentence. Go me.) I can now be reached at jordan@billgatesisdead.com. How cool is that? ♥
Send Tragibutes to people who have just tragically lost a loved one. This site looks somewhat normal until you read the description of each bouquet. ♥
When not being depressing, Emlyn comes up with stuff like this. If he was being depressing less often, he'd be the most blogworthy man I'd ever known. (Well, actually, I'm just jealous because Emlyn can be more depressing than me sometimes. No one, and I mean no one, is allowed to be more depressing than me.) ♥
Draw A Pig. My pig indicates that I'm a pessimist, have little feeling of family, niave, stubborn, a bad listener and have a poor sex life.
Pigs are so smart. They have all the answers. ♥
Things learned in college - #102: Spaghetti-Os leave an impenetrable red stain in my dishes.
Things learned in college - #103: Ramen magically removes said "impenetrable" stain.
Go figure. ♥
I think My Virtual Model is so much cooler than StorTrooper. Just fill out a questionnaire and you'll be presented with a model with your body shape. This is my virtual model (pardon the clothing). Show me yours! :) ♥
Wednesday Morning Haiku
Here I am again
No one would write the haiku
My guests hate haiku?
I just noticed that the Guest Wannabe team is now complete. That really made my day :) Yeah, it is *that* easy to make my day. I'm so easily pleased. Um, I think I'll introduce you to my guests, in the order of the length of time I've known them:
» Jordan is the first weblogger who blogged me. I met him (or rather, he found me) at the now defunct Pyra Fora (now Blogger Discuss) where I was complaining about my weblog not being listed in the Blogger Directory (yup, I used to do that too) in February 2000. Jordan is funny. His site is currently down.
» Nikolai is my design hero. He once made me a design that I loved to bits. I found Blogger through his site, Fairvue Central. I've known him just as long as I've known Jordan. Nikolai is the only American I know who can sing Indonesian popular songs. We have almost similar taste in music. Nikolai is funny. His site is currently down.
» Matt is my PHP guru. I think he found me through Jordan. He's the only person in the world who would admit my geekiness. Matt is a self-proclaimed BOFH and ubergeek. He loves his server like a son. Matt is funny. His site is currently down.
» Emlyn is an Australian who's never seen a kangaroo outside the zoo. He likes to think that he sucks more than me. I let him believe that. Of course the truth is it's the other way around. Emlyn is funny. His site is actually up.
The boys will be my guests for two weeks. Please be nice to them. Now folks, let's skip the thank you bit (because I'm supposed to be the one to thank you for accepting the invitation) and start blogging! :) ♥
Yeah, so I'm without a blog of my own for a few days, so I'm hitching a ride on this one. Thanks, Firda! ♥
A Visual Encylopedia. Each of the symbols we take for granted is compared to several others, including symbols from other cultures, such as ancient mayan. Fascinating stuff. ♥
Miss Firda has graciously extended me an invitation to guest blog here while my server is down. I usually don't post all that often, since I'm not the sort of person who crawls the web looking for links, but I accepted anyway. Thank you, Firda! ♥
Becoming Palm Piloteer is an article that describes exactly what's going to happen if I ever own any of those hi-tech gadgets. Being gadgetless is not so bad after all. It eliminates one potential reason to get depressed. ♥
Tuesday Morning Haiku
It's Tuesday again
And it's back to work again
Work makes me sleepy.
I've found that coding and designing are what make me happy. I spent all weekend doing those things and I didn't have time to feel depressed. In fact, I'm not feeling depressed anymore now. Coding and designing might be the cure for depression :) I'm not happy with this design, but I'm quite happy with the PHP coding. Ok, so I still got some help from Emlyn since, being a lousy coder that I am, I didn't know how to make a default colour scheme, but that's about all. I do the rest myself so I don't suck (much), do I? ;) Anyway, I'm going to send out the blogging invitations to the (un)lucky four. I hope all of them will accept the invitation. That will make me one happy wannabe *hint, hint* ♥
Ok, no more post this morning. I'm going to finish the temporary design, invite some folks to be guest bloggers here (I haven't forgotten about you, Jordan ;), and off I go to find some inspirations for the *real* new design. Ciao! ♥
Guess what? My other domain where I plan to move this site to is down. Again. Argh! The Quack-O-Matic is back here again, folks! ♥
Hmm, I think I confused the time in this post. "Living" in more than one time zone is so confusing. Well, I basically could access my site on Saturday my time (GMT+7 or +8, I really can't tell which one is currently valid, thanks to DST) but I couldn't post and the posts that showed here were only posts from last Monday and earlier. I couldn't access my site at all on Sunday my time. I think the site went back up earlier this morning because when I checked it last night at around 2am, it was still down. I really don't know why I'd bothered to write down this explanation because, well, who cares? I wouldn't if I were you :) ♥
I took The Triadic Enneagram Test and found that I'm a Four. I don't think I'm that much of an emotional person, which is a typical of Fours, but I think I do have the capability to see the best in people. I guess that's the reason why I tend to get along with people that others are not so fond of. So, what number are you? ♥
Monday Morning Haiku
It's back up again
Has this site been down at all?
I have no idea.
Some people could still access this site yesterday and some others (including me) couldn't. I know because there were some comments dated back from the evening of May 25 PDT or Saturday morning my time. I could access this site on Friday but I couldn't post. This page kept on showing the posts from from last Monday and backwards even though I'd posted a couple of posts. Anyway, I'm going to move this site soon and once I moved, I hope there'd be less problems. ♥
Test! Test! Test! ♥
Saturday Morning Haiku
Weblog Wannabe
Is a twilight zone today
It's back to Monday.
Changes and a file I added to my directory sometime during the week are missing. Gone. Vanish. Error 404. I wonder If I could post this haiku and if it would show up in my weblog. Let's see. Nope, it won't show up. But if you can read this entry, please email me to let me know. I just need to know if Dreamhost is really screwing up or I have gone crazy. ♥
What is the most frequently visited tourist attraction in the U.S.? I thought the answer would be Hollywood. Boy, was I wrong. Let me give you a little clue. The first letter is "D". Can you guess what it is? ;) ♥
Listen to a conversation wiretapped by the FBI between two real-life New York gangsters, Frank "Frankie California" Condo and Federico "Fritzy" Giovanelli in The Frank & Fritzy Show, which is dubbed as an equal to "Seinfeld meets The Sopranos". You'll need RealAudio to listen but if you don't have it, you can still read the transcript. It's kinda amusing to listen to gangsters talking about yoghurt. ♥
I don't know what kind of drink Dr. Pepper is (do you know?) but apparently this drink is so popular that there are so many Dr. Pepper imitations sold in the market. Not Quite What the Doctor Ordered showcases the fake Dr. Peppers and ranks them. Not sure what the rankings are based on, though. ♥
From Modern Humorist: Excerpts from The Foreigner's Guide to America: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Chapter 1 is as boring as an introduction can get, but Chapter 2 is pretty interesting. It covers currency, clothing, driving, and catchphrases. Can't wait to read Chapter 3: A Visit to the Great Midwest. ♥
According to Emode.com's Inner Rockstar Quiz, my inner rockstar is Celine Dion. Eek! But I think Celine Dion is still better than Britney Spears. [lifted from plasticbag] ♥
Kottke says they'll be back later today! Woohoo! (Well, actually, I'm more excited about the prospect of being able to see Fairvue's new feature than anything else, but shh! Don't tell anyone. It's our little secret ;) Update: Just got a word from Nikolai that Fairvue is not coming back yet *boohoo* ♥
Friday Morning Haiku
I'm feeling okay
Must keep telling myself that
I'm feeling okay.
Who knows, I just might believe it. Matt might be right. It may be a depression. I've had a depression before but it was 5 or 6 years ago. I'll try to get out of this in the weekend. It can't be that hard. Anyway, I got a design idea last night. I think I'll start working on it tonight. I hope I won't end up hating it. I'm also considering getting some friends to be guest bloggers here for a week or so. I think I need a break. Not a long one. Only two weeks at most. And I'll still be around. I might even post something if I feel like it. The idea of quitting "to find myself" is not such a good one. What I am is a weblogger. Or rather, a weblogger wannabe *grins* Quitting blogging would only make me feel even lost. Now it's your turn to tell me what a great relief for you to hear that ;) ♥
Why can't I come up with a witty comment? First I found that I've lost my design ability (though according to Matt, it's just a slump). Now I found that I've also lost my wittiness. I think I'm losing myself. What to do, what to do... Do you think I should quit blogging "to find myself" like the cool kids do? ♥
I have an online friend who has never had an online friend before. He asked me how much one should care for an online friend. I care about friends that I met online just as much as I care about those that I met offline. If I could do anything to help a friend, I would. But I might be an extreme case so I just thought I'd ask you, to what extent would you care about your online friends? Anonymous answers are welcome. ♥
Brains4Zombies.com -- Your online home for Brains and Brain-Related Products is an amusing parody of Amazon.com. This is the place where you can buy Jon Bon Jovi's brain for only $5.59. ♥
I've been thinking of starting a campaign to banish the term "real life" from the Internet. It's real life wherever you are, be it online or offline. Why? Because we don't turn into a robot when we get online, that's why! The case of you-know-who doesn't change the way I feel about it. I still think of you as real people and I treat you accordingly. But are you really a real person? You tell me. But as far as I'm concerned, you're real until proved otherwise. ♥
If you're into name generators (which I think are getting kind of old), Yahoo! has a bunch of new links to some name generators today. One that I've never visited before is Authentic Indian Name Generator. I'm Cassandra Hissing Ocelot. Nice to meet you. ♥
Thursday Morning Haiku
It's a holiday
But I've been feeling so blah
Can't wait for weekend.
I think I need to go out for a change. Maybe a shopping spree will help. I've been feeling down more often than usual lately. It's not good. Anyway, thanks to Jon P. for giving me a crash course on how love works last night at Quack-O-Matic, and also to Emlyn and Matt for caring. Where would I be without you, guys? ;) ♥
I regret to inform you that I answered 8 out of the 10 questions in The Brunching Shuttlecock's Britney Spears: Fact or Fiction? quiz correctly. Shoot me, anyone? ♥
The Register presents The Email Disclaimer Awards 2001, with categories such as "Longest Disclaimer", "Most Incomprehensible Disclaimer", "Most Politically Correct Disclaimer", "Best Bilingual Disclaimer", "Best Spoof Disclaimer" and "Special Award for Best WWW Disclaimer". It's a fun read! ♥
I was going to post something about someone but then thought that some people who read this weblog and had been spending a lot of time in Quack-O-Matic lately were going to beat me up to death if I ever mentioned that name again so I'd rather not. Besides, everyone else has already blogged about it. I'm sure the last thing the web needs right now is yet another weblogger's opinion on the subject. If you want to know what I'm talking about, just move along to the next weblog in your weblog reading list and I'm sure you'll find at least one link to it ;) ♥
Wednesday Morning Haiku
No work tomorrow!
Yippee, yippee, yay, yay, yay!
I feel like singing.
But the song stuck in my head right now is such a sappy song. It's "Every Road Leads Back to You" by Bette Midler. I think I'll sing it and put it up here tonight :) I bet you're looking forward to listening to it (yeah, right). Anyway, I'm thinking of buying a new computer. All I have to do is get my little brother to borrow me his credit card. That's the hardest part. The rest should be easy. We'll see. Oh, and I feel like saying hi to Charlie the Krazy Kanadian, so HI, CHARLIE! *waves* ♥
From Quack-O-Matic:
[03:18 PM] Emlyn : Open MCTP connection!
[03:18 PM] Emlyn : The host must not be responding. Or, perhaps the firewall blocks port 243...
[03:20 PM] Emlyn : ping firda.id
[03:22 PM] Emlyn : The connection timed out. Damn.
[03:23 PM] Emlyn : I wonder how the Meaningless Chatter Transfer Protocol would work?
[03:24 PM] Emlyn : HTTP looks something like this: HTTP 1.1 GET /pictures/index.html
[03:24 PM] Emlyn : (which requests that the server send us the index.html file in the directory pictures..)
[03:25 PM] Emlyn : MCTP would be something like GET a life you sad loser.mcml
[03:27 PM] Emlyn : No. It'd work like FTP - a login and persisant connection thing. There would be commands like LOGIN [user] and NOOP (meaning "I have nothing to say, I'm just reminding you i'm still here to keep the connection alive")
[03:27 PM] Emlyn : And that would be about it.
[03:30 PM] Emlyn : I'll stop now.
I'm always amazed at Emlyn's ability to keep talking to himself for long minutes without running out of things to say :P ♥
Thinking of a place to go on summer vacation? Well, why don't you go to Vieques Island, Puerto Rico, the home of the world's brightest glowing bay, and I mean it literally. The light created by micro-organisms at the bay is bright enough to read a book from (at night, of course). It looks really cool. I would love to swim there. ♥
I know nothing about British election but Prezza Prize Fighter surely is fun if you're into egg avoiding, people punching kind of game. Use the left and right arrows on your keyboard to punch and the spacebar to duck should anyone throw an egg (that looks more like a balloon to me) at Prezza. My highest score was 12. I was too busy making Prezza punch people right and left that I rarely saw the eggs coming. ♥
Not sure if you are British? Take the Am I British or Not? quiz. I scored 43%, which makes me blatantly foreign, which means I read about Britain once in "Le Monde" and don't believe in the imperial system. Er. I've never read "Le Monde" and I do believe in imperial system. Hey, I should've scored more than that! ♥
Apparently, I've been arrested for being a hacker. I am a l33t hax0r! Phear me! Get yourself arrested if you feel like it. ♥
Something weird is going on here. Some comments have disappeared and a part of Quack-O-Matic log has also disappeared. Could it be that someone has hacked into the system? ♥
Tuesday Morning Haiku
I'm glad it's Tuesday
I'm feeling so much better
But I'm still sleepy.
I think Quack-O-Matic's broken. I suddenly lost contact with everyone. Weird. Makes me wonder if the others have been abducted by aliens. Anyway, I hope today won't suck as much as yesterday and that I'll be able to post more (don't hold your breath). I can't wait until Thursday for it will be a holiday. I'll have to go back to work on Friday but after that it'll be a long weekend because Monday is a holiday too. Yay! And then I'm going to take Friday next week off and since the Monday after next Monday is a holiday too, it will be yet another long weekend! Yay again! Aren't you green with envy? ;) ♥
The more curious of you might want to check out The History of Eating Utensils. I know you're dying to find out the history of chopsticks ;) ♥
The Date-My-Sister Project is TheSpark.com's latest science project. While not really all that scientific (if not totally unscientific), it's still good for a laugh or two. I wish my brothers would start this kind of project for me *sigh* ♥
Meet Emlyn, the third weblogger after Jordan and me to blog Quack-O-Matic nonsense as well as the second person to give a permanent link to Quack-O-Matic after me. To mark this new era (ha-ha!), I'm going to cite even more nonsense (wisdom?) from the chat thingy that has given so much joy to its regulars (yeah right):
[12:41 PM] Matt : How many bloggers does it take to change a light bulb?
[12:42 PM] emlyn : Um. Four.
[12:43 PM] Matt : Nope. Just one. But only if the ladder's not experiencing technical difficulties.
[12:44 PM] emlyn : But... no-one could do it if thee ladder was experiancing technical difficulties.
[12:46 PM] Matt : exactly. But even if the ladder is working perfectly, only so many bloggers can fit on it at once.
Don't mind them. They don't even use Blogger. ♥
Terror over Hainan is a computer game based on the incident between a supersonic Chinese jet fighter and an American turbo prop. Your mission: "You must destroy the superior American force, and collect as many hostages as you can." It can't be that hard :P ♥
Monday Morning Haiku
Monday already
I feel like crying out loud
I am so depressed.
Mondayitis plus menstruation equals a very unhappy Firda. ♥
And to prove that I don't care whether my voice is good enough for anyone else to hear, I sang Harry Nilsson's "The Puppy Song" and shamelessly posted it for the whole world to hear. I think I deserve at least a standing ovation for that, if not a record deal *grins* Anyone wanna be my producer? ;) ♥
To prove that I'm the (wo)man of my words, I actually updated babes : the web babies with pictures of the baby version of Crazy Uncle Joe, Jeffrey, Jody, Cindy, Jo, LaVonne, Rosalie, Kellie, and the booge, after about 5 months of hiatus. Hooray! :) And yes, I'm still accepting submissions. Scan that baby picture and send it my way! ♥
Have I mentioned that Thursday is a holiday? ;) Yay me! ♥
I submitted another mirror photo of mine to Friends of Jezebel's Mirror. When you click the link, someone else's photo will show up first. Wait a few seconds and my ugly mug will show up. I think I've posted this photo here some time ago so you might have seen it before. Thanks, Heather! ♥
Sunday Morning Haiku
It's a sunny day
Because it's Sunday. Oh yeah.
I'm going shopping.
Grocery shopping, that is. Not shopping shopping. I'm too broke for that. Just spent half my salary on paying the bills and I still haven't got my internet bill paid. Ack! Anyway, it's funny how I didn't remember most of the dreams I had over the past week. I knew that I dreamed every night but I just couldn't remember any of them when I woke up. I'll try to do better at remembering my dreams next week.
[Private note to Nikolai: I didn't get to finish it so I've nothing to show. You know how I am ;) Maybe tonight.] ♥
A classic Quack-O-Matic moment:
[05:17 PM] Emlyn : Do you have an "aspiring Wannabe" club?
[05:17 PM] Emlyn : I could be a wannabe-in-training.
[05:18 PM] Firda : No, but we can start one ;)
[05:19 PM] Firda : Hmm, so what's a senior wannabe like?
[05:20 PM] Firda : There should be a Wannabe-in-Training, Junior Wannabe, and Senior Wannabe.
[05:22 PM] Emlyn : And you can be the Lord-High Wannabe.
[05:23 PM] Firda : I'm the Supreme Wannabe ;)
[05:23 PM] Firda : Or maybe Wannabe Almighty?
[05:23 PM] Emlyn : And all the Wannabes-in-training look up to you and whisper in awe that they never thought it posible for someone to be such a wannabe.
[05:24 PM] Emlyn : All hail the Supreme Wannabe, Firda Beka!
[05:26 PM] Firda : *bows*
Sigh. I must be a genius to come up with Quack-O-Matic ;) ♥
You know, it really amuses me how most Indonesian weblogs have exactly the same sidebar links, obviously copied from one site. Don't they have their own personal favourites? When I just started weblogging, I didn't just copy someone else's sidebar links just for the sake of having some sidebar links. I built the sidebar links. I still am. It's an on-going process. The sidebar links are supposed to be the links to your own personal favourites, not someone else's. I don't know. Maybe I'm just being a nitpicker. Everyone's free to do anything they want with their own personal website, right? But I just hate to see how some people have missed the whole point of sidebar linking. I wrote this entry for them. Feel free to hate me for this. ♥
Can you tell the difference between vacations and weekends? According to me, a vacation is a long holiday. There is no long holiday for me (no rest for the wicked and blah blah blah) so vacation is something that should not be in my book. Well, actually, vacation is not in my book. Holiday is :P A weekend is when everyone's out to have fun. Everyone but me. Do I sound bitter? If I do, just remember that I'm still having my period. Period equals increased level of crankiness. So there. ♥
If you feel like being silly, get an online palm reading and find out about your past life or the future. According to my palm reading, I'll have some business dealings with a rehabilitated vegetarian, and I will end up in court. Hmm. I don't think I know a rehabilitated vegetarian. Are you one? ♥
(American-)Indian Why Stories is kind of like the Why Files, only much less scientific. You can find out everything from why the chipmunk's back is striped through to how the man found his mate, which I think is the most interesting (as well as most amusing) of all. ♥
I've never heard of any case of suicide using a toilet, but apparently someone has come up with a Suicide Resistant Toilet. How do you kill yourself with a toilet anyway? Any idea? The toilet looks kind of cool, though. ♥
Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you're reading a book, you come across a blank page with a writing that says This Page Intentionally Left Blank on it? Well, "This Page Intentionally Left Blank"-Project (TPILB-Project) wants to introduce these blank pages to the Web to keep alive the remembrance of these famous historical blank pages that are on the verge of extinction. Care to join? ;) ♥
Guess what? I've found yet another excuse not to blog a lot: I'm redesigning, baby! But I'll blog more tonight. Promise! :) ♥
If you're one of those hopelessly happy people, you should get some help so you could be miserable like the rest of us. Mwahahahaha!!! ♥
Saturday Morning Haiku
Hooray! It's weekend!
I really, really love it
I live for weekends.
Have I mentioned that my last day at work will be late in August instead of late in July as planned? Yeah, it sucks big time. But I'm doing someone a well-deserved favour. An extra month won't hurt since I've worked there for 2 years. Anyway, sorry for not blogging anything yesterday. I was just too sleepy to blog. I fell asleep really early and only woke up at 2am to feed my fish. Yeah, I'm that weird. I'll try to find something blogworthy this morning, but don't hold your breath. ♥
Friday Morning Haiku
I'm feeling cranky
Crankier and crankier
As the day proceeds.
I always feel cranky when I'm having my period. It's in the hormones, I guess. That's the excuse I'm going to use for the lack of post last night. I was too cranky, too tired, and too sleepy to blog. It was good for my goldfish, though. I always feed them before I go to sleep. Last night, for once, they had their meal before midnight. ♥
If you want to make the most out of your AOL Instant Messager (or is it Messenger?), read these AIM Tips and Tricks. You can learn how to talk to friends on AIM without being signed on (kind of like invisible mode on ICQ), be on AIM with 3 screen names at once (I know someone who could use this trick *grins*), and many more that might come in handy. ♥
Think you know lyrics? Take The Lyrics Challenge. I thought I knew most of the lyrics of the Beatles' songs but as it turned out, I could only score 2 out of 10. And I was playing at Beginners level. I'm so hopeless. I'm sure most of you will score well if you take the Christmas songlyrics challenge. ♥
Rate My Professors is the place where you get to rate and review your professors instead of the other way around. If there had been such thing when I was in college, I would've rated my philosophy and English professors pretty highly. They rocked! And you can all see just how philosophical I am and how fluent my English is, thanks to them. Heh. (Yeah, right.) ♥
Look who's going to be guest blogging here for a couple of weeks! I hope you'll be nice to him. Jordan's definitely funnier, cuter, and nicer than me. I'm sure you're going to love him :) No, I'm not going anywhere. I just thought it would be nice for a change to have a co-blogger, even if it's only for a couple of weeks. He'll start blogging here as soon as his site goes down temporarily, which can happen anytime now. Aren't you excited? ;) ♥
I just post the longest haiku in Haiku the Blog, out of boredom. I dare you to write a longer one ;) I think I've developed a haiku mentality after writing plenty of stupid haiku for more than a year. I often find myself thinking in 5-7-5. That's scary. ♥
Thursday Morning Haiku
I miss my fish so
I saw them two hours ago
But still I miss them.
My four goldfish are so adorable *sigh* You'd fall in love with them if you could see them. You should see how their mouths form an "o" when they breathe, which they do all the time since they're not dead yet. Sheesh. But I think that's their charm, their being alive and all. I don't know if you've ever seen a dead fish but dead fish is highly unattractive. Not to mention smelly. And I'm rambling. ♥
If Our Lady Peace's "Life" were sung by someone whose voice is less annoying than Our Lady Peace's lead singer (whatshisname?), I think I would like it a lot. Hell, I think I would like it a lot of *I* were the one who sang it instead of that guy. Don't tell me that I'm the only one who finds his voice annoying. ♥
You know, every time I see from my website stats that someone tried to contact me on AIM while I was offline, I always feel this pang of regret, knowing that I could've had a nice chat with someone, but I missed it. I can't help but wonder who could it be. If you were the person(s) who clicked the AIM link to contact me yesterday only to find me offline (or online, but your message just wouldn't go through; it happens sometimes), wave your hand so I could see you! :) ♥
If only I could find another free voicemail service with toll-free number, my life would be whole again... ♥
Now I'm going to answer my own question:
"Yes, Firda. It is possible to convert .rm files into .wav. All you have to do is install this WinAmp plugin called Tara Audio Video Plugin and you'll be set to go. It's only a plugin, so it's not really a fancypant sound recording software. Plus, it's only 70kb in size."
Wow, thanks so much, self! You're too kind. I'm really touched. Sniff. ♥
I took the Electronic Relationship Addiction Quiz and found that I'm only an electronic experimenter, which means "...you've graduated from E-Mail 101, and have found that the Internet can be entertaining. Even so, you manage to keep things in perspective and still have a life that includes real people with whom you actually socialize face-to-face." And you think I'm an electronic addict. Heh. So, what are you? ♥
Now you can send snail mail through email for "free" by means of Zairmail (US only). Of course there is a catch. The recipient will get some coupons and other annoying promotional stuff along with your letter. You'll look like a cheapskate, so my advice is, don't use their service to send love letters. ♥
Any Windows 2000 user ever experience this error? Microsoft really should get an award for "inventing" so many fun and original errors to entertain the users of their products :) ♥
Now I know why you miss me when I don't update. Just look at this place. Where else can you find bad singing, stupid haiku, a lot of bitching and complaining, comments begging, boring posts, and useless links all in one blog? ;) ♥
I'm in such a bad mood right now. If I weren't so broke, I'd register a new domain name just to cheer myself up a bit. OompaWoompa.com is available. ♥
I just found that my voicemail account has been closed because eVoice is now charging a fee. I'm so sad. Sniff. No more voicemails for me. Boo hoo hoo! What's the point of living without voicemails? I think I'll just go shoot myself now... ♥
Does anyone know how to convert .rm into .wav without using any fancypant sound editing software? ♥
Tim Ireland, who seems to be the only person to send me any link this year, pointed me to Be Aware, the UK Political Party for the 21st Century. The purpose of the Be Aware Party is to promote the aims of Mr. Jon Johnson (whoever he is) and bring awareness to the plight of the oceans crustacea. Help their campaign (by getting your picture taken while standing next to the British Prime Minister Tony Blair, wearing the party symbol, among others) and win prizes. It sounds more fun than the US election. ♥
Wednesday Morning Haiku
Good morning, Today
Please go away soon, real soon
So I can go home.
You know you're not up for a good start when the first person who sees you in the morning asks you if you're feeling bad. I must look like like hell. Well, I'm not really in a bad mood. I'm just tired and sleepy. I haven't got enough rest after my brother's wedding, which was really exhausting, both mentally and physically. Still I had fun playing "Charlie's Angels" at the wedding with a cousin and little bro's girlfriend. There's a picture of the three of us sitting on the stairs at the wedding, looking hungry, tired, and hot. I should scan it one of these days so you could see it. It's my favourite picture from the wedding. I look funny in my long blouse and slacks, both of which are about two sizes too small. ♥
You know, it's really easy to make my day. All you have to do is leave a comment here or post something in Forum Wannabe. Humour me, please? I was away for only 3 days and all the commentators left me. Sniff. ♥
All I know about "purple monkey dishwasher", I learned it from Moby Tour Diary Updates. Well, he calls it "purple monkey dishwater", but that's close. I've been wondering about "purple monkey dishwasher" for so long. At least ever since I came across Kottke.org, which I think was about 2 or 3 years ago. "Chinese Whispers". Such a mysterious name for such a simple game. ♥
Do you have what it takes to be a word police officer? I failed the exam. Sniff. I'm so heartbroken *boohoohoo* ♥
Blogger's playing up again *grumbles* ♥
If you're planning to go ghosthunting or just want to start a ghostbuster business in the U.K., you should check out Haunted Places in the UK. It will tell you where, when, and why about the British ghosts. I just love this kind of stuff :) ♥
Japanappy is an online guide to conversational Japanese and tutor matchmaking, and when they say matchmaking, they really mean matchmaking. You can browse the profiles and pictures of the tutors in the database to find one that suits your fancy. It's an online Japanese tutorials and matchmaking service in one. Perfect for men who are obsessed with Asian women. Heh. ♥
I don't know why some girls would refer themselves as "just a girl". Why settle with being "just a girl" when you can be so much more than that? I don't know. I just think that "just a girl" sounds so final. But then again, I always think too much. ♥
I took a lot of photographs of my four brand new, beautiful goldfish over the last few days. I got the film developed last night and guess what? None of the goldfish photos turned up. Bummer. ♥
Excerpt from Quack-O-Matic that made me grin:
[03:19 AM] Jordan : Firrrrrrrda.. come baaaaaack!
[06:40 AM] Matt : Umm....I'm starting to get a bit worried.
[06:43 AM] Jordan : Yeah, me too...
[09:46 AM] Matt : Anybody know how to get a hold of Firda other than web/voicemail?
[07:16 PM] Firda : Um, try snail mail *grins* Or give her a call, but international calls are way too expensive ;)
[07:30 PM] emlyn : Firda-less. Oh, whatever shall I do?
[07:32 PM] Firda : I'm here. Just not in full blogging mode.
[07:33 PM] emlyn : Wow. Firda has a non-blogging mode!
The worrying bit was really sweet, though. I feel so loved :)
Speaking of Quack-O-Matic, the software comes with an excellent tech support *grins* If I made the code available for download, would anyone be interested in it? ♥
I'll be back to my regularly blogging schedule tonight though you can't expect me to post much with that super tiny screen but still I'll try to find some useless links to post anyway. I love you that much :) ♥
Oh by the way, if you want to say hi to me, I'm at the Quack-O-Matic, trying hard not to fall asleep at work. I also made a few new posts in Forum Wannabe that aren't really worth checking out, but if you're a big fan of me (ha-ha!), you'd probably want to read them anyway. ♥
While I was offline, listening to music was my number one pastime. I listened a lot to the following songs:
"Hijo de la Luna" by Sarah Brightman
"Nightswimming" by R.E.M.
"Rehab" by Arkarna
"Hijo de la Luna" is a waltzy tune. I just love waltzes. And I kinda like the legend told in the song, depressing as it might be. "Nightswimming" made me feel dreamy. Gotta love the piano. "Rehab" is the kind of song that can make me smile, and the video is so Londonish. If I could move to any place in the world, London, England would be high on my list.
And yeah, I do have weird taste in music :) ♥
Tuesday Morning Haiku
So glad I'm leaving
Though still 3 more months from now
But I am leaving.
Work really gets to me. No, not really work. Only my current job. If I could enjoy it, it probably wouldn't get to me at all. I really can't wait for August when I'll be jobless. I announce that August 2001 is the International Slacking Month. Anyone who hates their job may observe this month by either taking August off or quitting their job before the 1st of August. You deserve the break. You need the break. Be selfish for once. ♥
American Family Immigration History Center allows you to search for and read stories about passengers who came to America through Ellis Island and the Port of New York between 1892 and 1924. All you have to do is enter your family name (or probably your great grandfather's name) and teda! Really cool! ♥
Monday Night Haiku
Oompa Woompa is
A brilliant domain name
It must be taken.
So, how did it feel to be Firda-less? ;) Sorry for getting some of you worried about my well-being. I couldn't use my computer. My monitor decided to die last Thursday. I'm on a borrowed monitor right now. It's even older than my own and it has a super tiny screen. It's killing my eyes. I wish I could get a loan from the bank to buy a new monitor. But you just don't get bank loans to buy stuff like that, don't you? And especially not from Indonesian banks. Oh well. ♥
The only thing I hate about the Web Standards Campaign is that some sites redirect people with "lowly" browsers (like IE4 that I happen to be stuck with at work) to the browser upgrade page and not allow them to read the content at all. Other than that, I'm okay with it. ♥
Thursday Morning Haiku
I'm feeling so blah
I so can't wait to go home
Last work day this week.
I'm taking Friday and Monday off so it's going to be a 4-day weekend for me. Yay! :) I'm feeling kind of blah right now. On my way to work, I always pass a turn that leads to a highway that goes straight to the airport. Usually, I see that turn and I'll tell myself that someday I'm going to go through that highway to the airport and fly somewhere where I'll be free. This morning I passed that turn and I felt sad. I'd come to a realisation that I wasn't going anywhere. I wouldn't be able to afford flying anywhere. I would never fly again. It really saddened me.
Anyway, I had a really weird dream last night. You can read about it here at the Forum Wannabe. It's near the bottom of the page, but you should read other dreams as well if you haven't already. You can even post yours if you want. I'd love to read it :) ♥
Since Blogger didn't get back up until I was too sleepy to blog, I'll just leave you with a link to my horrible interpretation of the Looney Tunes theme song and go to sleep.
Oh BTW, firdabeka.com is now mine! Mwahahaha!!! No, it's not up yet. The DNS hasn't resolved yet (is that the correct term?). Maybe tomorrow. ♥
A couple more workmates just begged me to stay for a bit longer here. Sigh. I wish I could tell you the reason for all this begging but I can't. It's a one big secret conspiracy, ya know ;) And in this conspiracy, I have a key role. The success of the mission of the said conspiracy all depends on me. If I quit now, we will undoubtedly fail to accomplish the mission and my poor workmates will have to suffer for the rest of their miserable lives. If I stayed until the end of this year, we might succeed and I would walk away a hero. Tell me, what should I do? What would you do if you were me? ♥
Even though Tom has opened his psychic floodgates to let my telepathic messages in, the coat hanger remains untouched. I'm beginning to question my psychic ability. Has it worn out? Have I totally lost it? NOOO!!! ♥
Wednesday Morning Haiku
Better post something
Before dear Blogger goes down
For the maintenance.
When Blogger's down at 9 PM PDT, I'll be blabbing away about nothing at either Forum Wannabe or Quack-O-Matic or both. I so can't wait for lunchtime. I had a chocolate bar for breakfast but it's not filling at all. It's even less filling than the bread I had yesterday. Not that you care but hey, it's my website! :P I can say anything and do anything I want with it. Anyway, I've been thinking of putting up an application form to be my boyfriend *put tongue in cheek* The requirements shall be tougher than those for the most sought-after job at [insert the name of your favourite web developing company here]. Why? Because I want someone who is geekier than me, that's why! Ahem. Enough for now. Later. ♥
"We're tiny, we're toony, we're all a little loony..." God, how I love that song. If I could find the lyrics, I'd sing it and post it here. But the following link is not about the Looney Tunes theme song. The Forgotten Looney Tunes Character Gallery is all about pictures of, well, forgotten Loony Tunes characters. You know, the cousins, nephews and nieces of the main characters who only appear occasionally. It's pretty interesting. Really. ♥
Got Alice? is a satire of Got Milk? ads. Instead of wearing a milk mustache the celebrities and cartoons are wearing the Alice Cooper make-up, and I've got to tell you, it's not really all that pretty. Well, unless you are goth or an Alice Cooper fan then you'll probably find it pretty :) ♥
The Lipstick Personality Test is definitely not for me. I don't wear lipstick. Well, I basically don't wear makeup. Wearing makeup always makes me feel like wearing a mask. But if you wear lipstick, you might want to check it out. ♥
Find out the name of famous people before they get famous. I bet you didn't know that John Wayne was once known as Marion Michael Morrison. That was surely a really drastical change. ♥
I'm going to have to memorise this article: how to make a living doing what you love. To make a living doing what I love is my goal in life. This article tells me exactly what I need to hear, now that I'm giving up a stable job, a source of regular income, for something that's still uncertain. I'm not nuts. I'm pursuing my dream. It can't be that bad. Can it? ♥
My supervisor begged me to stay until December and I was like, "Wha..? December?!?" and she was like, "Why not? Do you really hate it so much here?" and of course I couldn't lie (I just don't lie; lying is bad) so I said, "Well, yes, I do!"
To cut the long story short, I'm going to have to delay my resignation until July so my last day here will be sometime in August instead of end of July. You know, a month's notice and stuff.
Bummer. ♥
Do you remember the dream you had last night? is the new discussion topic over at Forum Wannabe. Feel free to join the discussion or post a new topic. It's not just a discussion forum. It's a public blog. ♥
Tuesday Morning Haiku
I'm sleepy at work
Why I'm always sleepy here
I have no idea.
Probably boredom. Or the air-conditioning. Mind you, my house has no air-conditioning. These days, the house feels so humid. It's like living in a sauna. I won't feel sleepy at home unless it is my bedtime or I don't get enough sleep the night before (which is pretty obvious). I can't afford to have a nap when I'm home. It's just too hot and humid. Anyway, I just had some bread for breakfast but it's not filling at all. I'm still hungry. And it's still 4 hours to lunchtime. Sigh. At least at home I can eat anytime I want. If my big brother is really going to get married on Monday, I'm going to take Friday and Monday off. Not that I'll have any role at all in the wedding but, hey, the wedding of an immediate family is a good reason to take a day off or two! :) ♥
I wonder if these songs are really sung by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy of the Star Trek fame. I just can't imagine Shatner singing "I Wanna Sex You Up" and Nimoy singing "If I Were A Carpenter". ♥
International Neoinstitute For Gravitationally-Active Gravy is the world's first and only scientific institute devoted to exploring the gravitational qualities of gravy. There must be a gravitational reason for gravy to be called "gravy" instead of, say, uh, can't think of a scientific word that equals gravity. Any suggestion? ♥
Stuff I Learned While I Was Alive is a collection of original funny sayings by Jason Love. Just when I was beginning to think how lame this link was, I saw that Jordan actually found it blogworthy, so I guess it isn't really such a bad link :) ♥
Everytime I try a new, stupid trick or do anything unusual, I always screw up. I must be doomed. ♥
Just when you're starting to believe that there is no A-List, someone came up with an A-List Chart, chronicling the ups and downs of A-Listers in Bloggerville. You won't believe who's on the top of the chart. ♥
We're having a cute little discussion on the weirdest thing you've ever eaten in Forum Wannabe. Care to join? ;) ♥
Now you can shutdown the Internet in one single click. (Thanks, Michel!) ♥
During our chat yesterday, Joe told me that I was creative. I'd been so busy trying to make myself believe I was creative all day that I couldn't come up with a design idea after the fishy idea failed miserably ;) So much for being creative. Blech. Anyway, good luck with the interview on Monday, Joe!
I think I also dreamed about redesigning last night. I even still remember what the design in the dream looked like. It has a Random Firda in it, only the background colour was white. Hmm. Maybe I should try to develop it. Go on, tell me what a big dork I am for having a redesigning dream :P ♥
Monday Morning Haiku
It's a holiday
But it still feels like Monday
The bad, old Monday.
It's the Buddhist New Year today. We observe new year for just about every religion here, which is fine by me since it means a lot of holiday. I woke up at 4am this morning. As usual, I thought it was 5. Was online until 6am and then I went back to sleep and had this weird dream about everyone in my office being my old college friends and we were all resigning. We had a lunch party on our last day and there were lots of people attending the party. They all also looked like people that I knew back in college. I must've missed them so much. ♥
I'd been watching Tom reorganising his room on plasticbag.org | cam and at the same time been trying to send a telepathical message for him to put the hanger somewhere else, like in the closet where it'd be hidden, but apparently he didn't get the message. Oh well. And I wonder what Quirks the cat is doing on Nikolai cam *curses my goth monitor* Oops, he's refreshed the cam. Oh well (again). ♥
Have a problem? Need some (bad) advice? Want to plug your weblog? Forum Wannabe is the way to go :) It desperately needs some new posts. Humour me, please? ♥
I think everyone is beautiful. Sometimes I even think that I'm beautiful. Now you can find out what kind of beauty personality you are. Apparently, I'm a "balanced beauty", whatever that means, and my beauty icons are Lily Manning from "Once and Again"; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Angela Chase from "My So-Called Life"; and Dr. Sydney Hansen from "Providence". I don't know if it's good or bad. Mind you, I don't watch any of those TV shows. ♥
You can do whatever you want to do and be whatever you want to be. The hardest thing is believing it.
That's my own (pseudo) words of wisdom :) ♥
Jack, the founder of Jack in the Box, owns a Pro Football team called the Carnivores. After seeing the training table, I think I could only afford to be a back and receiver. There's only so much burger and croissant I could stuff into my tummy. Of course they'll have to replace the bacon and ham with beef. I don't eat porky pig. Gimme a cow anytime :) ♥
Heh. This one made me grin *grins* Apparently, the problems with Blogger's archive and template in BlogSpot hosted weblogs are so bad that someone decided to dedicate a blog to it. If you have a BlogSpot blog, you might want to check it out. I wish there was a blog dedicated to the Blogger archiving problems in non-BlogSpot weblogs. None of the troubleshooting advice available in Blogger Discuss seems to work in my case :( ♥
Sunday Morning Haiku
Been a blah weekend
Still don't want it to end soon
Blah workday is worse.
I'm glad tomorrow/Monday is a holiday. I'm going to take the next Monday off because my big brother will get married. Fancy getting married on a Monday. I'm going to have to prepare myself for the "You're next!" accusation. I'm sure I'll get plenty of it on that day. It's going to be a really, really depressing day.
Anyway, I just got a new idea for the redesign. It's going to be fishy instead of ducky. I'm going for the underwater look with some colourful little fishy and stuff. There'll be no ducky, sorry. I think the duck is getting old. Besides, fish is the only pet I've ever had. That is if you could call it a pet. You can't pet fish so I doubt that fish is a pet. We did keep some birds as a pet some time ago (read: 10 or more years ago) but I didn't really like them. They smell. Well, fish smells too but not until you put them near your nose, which I doubt anyone in their correct mind will do.
I don't really feel like blogging this morning. I just feel like rambling. If you send me an instant message right now, I'll be sure to flood you with my nonsensical rambling. You can consider it as either an invitation or a warning. Your choice. But I probably won't blog much this morning. Sorry. ♥
I'm thinking of buying some goldfish this weekend to fill my now empty aquarium. I'd probably call them, Nikolai the Fish Version 2.0, Jordan the Fish Version 2.0, Linux the Fish Version 2.0 and Unix the Fish Version 2.0. I also plan to make something like Big Brother: Life in the Fishbowl to keep the fish (and myself) amused. I'm going to have to make up my own rules for my version since I'll only have 4 goldfish and I don't have the $500,000 but that can wait until I get the fish. ♥
All morning my big brother was complaining about how wedding preparation was such a pain. I was tempted to say that being dateless forever, I was glad I wouldn't have to worry about it since I doubt I'd ever get married at all, but then I decided to keep the insight for myself. Maybe if I follow the tips and advice in Dating Advice for the Criminally Insane, I'd get myself a date. But since they suggest that I use it as a last resort, I think I'll just wait until I'm really, really desperate. ♥
My ISP has gone back to normal again. I'd say "yay!" but I'm already in a bad mood right now so no yay for now. I'll save the yay for when (if?) anything good happens today. So far it's been a pretty bad day. If I believed in Al Gore, I would ask Virtual Al Gore what I should do to improve the day. Since I don't, I don't really have anyone to ask for advice so... ♥
It looks like my ISP is screwing up (again) and I can't access either my own site or Blogger (and tonnes more other sites) so update may be scarce this morning. I'm posting this from Newsblogger. Good thing that Newsblogger doesn't reside on the same server with Blogger. ♥
Saturday Morning Haiku
Woke up too early
On a Saturday Morning
4:15 AM.
And I thought it was 5:15 AM. I've been online ever since because I just couldn't make myself go back to sleep. Anyway, sorry for not blogging any weird link yesterday. I was going to blog more after dinner but then my little brother (who's not so little anymore) was already occupying the computer and by the time he finished whatever he was doing, I was already asleep. Watching TV is simply not enough to keep me awake. Watching TV is that boring. I can live without TV. It's my computer and the internet that I can't live without :) I'll try to find something blogworthy this morning after breakfast. See ya! ♥
A couple of nights ago, I had a beautiful dream. I dreamed of having a baby girl. She was so cute and beautiful and happy. The strange thing was I didn't know that the baby was mine when I first saw it. I had to ask, "May I hold her?" and everyone said, "Go ahead, you're her mother!" When I held her close, I felt so peaceful, as if nothing else mattered anymore. The baby had no name and no father. It's funny how everytime I dreamed of having a baby, I never knew who the father was. Not that I dream about it a lot. Only twice. The first time around, the baby had a name. Her name was Libby. ♥
Can you draw me a yellow little duck? Please? I can't seem to draw a duck without it looking like a starving chick. I can't even draw a straight line. Poor me. Sniff.
Oh by the way, I finally got around to getting the archives back last night. It was so annoying, especially since I was so tired and sleepy. But at least now they're all back. Yay! ♥
Friday Morning Haiku
Six hours to go
Before the long weekend starts
I can hardly wait.
Well, 3-day weekend is not really what I'd call a long weekend, but still it's better than a 2-day one. Well, I managed to make the public blog up and running. You can visit it here if you want. While you're there, be sure to post something! Oh, I also got another mirror shot scanned yesterday. It's poorly scanned and blurry as always, but at least this one is bigger compared to the other pictures of me that I've ever shown you. It was taken in the office loo in December 2000. I'm wearing my favourite Mickey Mouse t-shirt in the picture that I happen to be wearing right now. Unfortunately, you can't see the Mickey Mouse because my arm is blocking it, but oh well. ♥
Mmm, chocolate-scented stamp! It's too bad they decided not to make the stamp chocolate-flavoured as well "for hygienic reasons and because extensive licking could remove the adhesive and cause the stamps to disintegrate". Extensive licking? Ick! ♥
My favourite pencil brand, Staedtler Mars-Lumograph, is not on the Top 10 Pencil List. But then again, German pencils can't be all that popular in the U.S. I know that Mead, which I'm sure is an American brand, is pretty bad. What's your favourite pencil brand? ♥
OddGoogle is like the Diaryland version of Disturbing Search Requests, but the search requests are limited to Google ones. I like DSR better, though. ♥
Can you tell if a band name is real or not? I've never heard any of the band names before yet I could tell which ones were real and which ones were fake. I'm a lucky girl, I'm good at making lucky guesses :) ♥
Thursday Evening Haiku
It's never too late
To write a crappy haiku
Any time will do.
Hmmm, what should I say? Oh yeah, I couldn't access my own site all morning, neither from home nor from work. ISP was screwing up again which made me unable to go to sites that are hosted in servers located in West Coast. That's what you get for having the same ISP with your workplace. I spent all day scanning documents at work. There were tonnes of them. Must be around 500 sheets. My eyes were all red and teary by home time. But I like it better than cataloging. At least scanning doesn't require me to think :) Yeah, I am that lazy. Just shoot me. ♥
Brand Ben Brown's Discussion Engine is actually a really nice discussion board/weblogging tool. It takes advantage of Perl and XML and looks kind of like Metafilter. I tried to install it on my new domain since I thought it was perfect for my public weblog project, but I didn't suceed. There must be something wrong with my server settings. I keep on getting Error 500 when I tried to run the .pl files. Blech. ♥
I can't help but wonder if Coca-Cola pH Lab is really a part of American high school curriculum. The objective of this lab is to compare the pH of Coca-Cola from the USA to the pH of Coca-Cola from Mexico. You should try drinking CocaCola with milk. It tastes like heaven :) ♥
I was told that if I were a real geek, this site on CPIP (carrier pigeon internet protocol) would make me laugh out loud. But the thing is, I'm only a geek wannabe, so I don't really know what's so funny about it apart from the rather amusing name (which made me giggle for about, oh, 5 seconds). If you know, please let me know. The knowledge would raise my level of geekiness for about 1.5 point. ♥
Cadaver Inc. offers a fast and affordable corpse disposal service, which includes organ extraction, corpse removal, murder scene clean-up, and witness disposal. It's perfect for serial killers like you. ♥
